Merchant History
The story of Caccioppoli begins with Vincenzo Caccioppoli, who in the early 1900s left Naples with his eldest son Raffaele and emigrated to Bogotá, Colombia to import fabrics from Italy and the United States, opening "Almacén Italia" in Plaza Bolívar. After World War I, around 1920, Vincenzo returned to Naples with his sons and founded the Caccioppoli shop in Piazza Nicola Amore in Naples – which remains the company's headquarters today.
Over the mid-20th century, the business established itself as a reference point for tailors, offering fabrics from leading mills such as Loro Piana, Vitale Barberis Canonico, and Ermenegildo Zegna, while developing its own exclusive fabric designs.
More recently, the company has expanded internationally: the fourth generation has opened distribution into European, Asian, and American tailoring markets, and nearly half of its fabrics are now exclusive designs for Caccioppoli.
Today, Caccioppoli stands as a distinguished Italian fabric merchant known for blending Neapolitan tailoring flair, refined fiber combinations, and expansive global service. Its collections offer tailors and clients fabrics that balance bold visual character with luxurious composition and tailored-market responsiveness.
Why We Love Caccioppoli
We love Caccioppoli for their bright, colorful, and unexpected cloths you might expect to see from a merchant in the south of Italy. We recommend considering their more playful color combinations – blues and browns, blues and greens, and so on. Their cotton selection is one of the best we have available, regarding variety and quality. Shepherd's is proud to be one of the only brands carrying Caccioppoli's unmatched fabric selections in the United States.
