Mill History
Fratelli Tallia di Delfino traces its roots back to 1903, when a drapery business began in Strona, an area already steeped in textile tradition. In 1921, the founder's sons formally established Fratelli Tallia di Delfino as a fabric trade company. In 1929, the company added worsted yarn production, and by 1933 the trade and production arms were merged into a unified wool fabric enterprise.
Through the mid-20th century, Tallia di Delfino strengthened its reputation, supplying top Italian tailors and attracting celebrity recognition. In the 1960s, with Italy's postwar economic boom, the company expanded into finished clothing while still serving atelier markets.
In 2008, Tallia di Delfino joined the Marzotto Group, integrating with one of Italy's largest wool textile groups while retaining its identity for luxury and fine drapery. In 2011, the brand introduced "24K" fabrics mixing fine wool and 24-carat gold fibers, reflecting its commitment to unique luxury offerings.
Today, Tallia di Delfino remains based in Strona, sourcing luxury wools like Australian merino, Mongolian cashmere, mohair, and silk blends, and producing all its fabrics locally in a facility respectful of its heritage.
Why We Love Tallia di Delfino
Being Italian, Tallia di Delfino is a favorite mill of ours to source bright, fun colors for summertime. They also do fall and winter fabrics beautifully – we often see their cloth selected for our jackets and sports coats.
Tallia di Delfino is also known for their unique fabric blends of cashmere, linen, and silk. You won't be disappointed with a Tallia di Delfino cloth – they finish beautifully and their quality is apparent.
